TÜV SÜD: Added value for the aviation industry

At the 10th Aviation Forum, TÜV SÜD will present comprehensive services in the fields of additive manufacturing, certification, environmental testing and non-destructive testing. In addition, additive manufacturing expert Gregor Reischle will be represented in the Tech Talks of the conference programme with his presentation "Digital part approval of 3D printed components enabled by advanced manufacturing solutions". Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the international trade fair for the aviation industry will take place exclusively online from 17th to 18th November.

ESA Extended: Reducing Plastic Consumption in Space With Lunar Powder

Since becoming a part of the European Astronaut Centre’s lab equipment in February 2017, the Composer 450 has been instrumental in their prototyping processes. ESA researchers have successfully used the extruder to develop custom quantities of PLA-based filament for research and development iterations. The 3devo set-up gives Spaceship EAC the ability to create 3D printing filament in-house. Also, reducing Spaceship EAC’s dependence on the expertise and availability of third--party filament suppliers.

Stratasys Wins One of Its Largest Ever Aerospace Orders Following AM Craft Investment in Four Large-Scale 3D Printers

Purchase of four Stratasys F900 3D Printers underscores growing demand for additive manufacturing in aircraft interior production
In what is one of its largest single orders to date, Stratasys, has announced that Latvia-based specialist aerospace additive manufacturing service provider, AM Craft, has purchased four large-scale production-grade Stratasys F900 3D Printers to provide certifiable 3D printed parts for a much wider range of aircraft interior applications. This includes everything from aircraft seating, paneling and ducting, as well as making it much more affordable for its aerospace customers to introduce customization within the cabin.

Relativity and 6K partner to develop AM rocket parts for space made from sustainable materials

Relativity Space, the world’s first autonomous rocket factory and launch services leader for satellites and 6K, the world’s leading developer of microwave plasma technology for the production of advanced materials used in additive manufacturing, lithium ion batteries and other industrial markets, today announced a strategic partnership to prove true sustainability in additive manufacturing production. The partnership is intended to create a closed loop supply chain where certified scrap materials produced at Relativity are turned into powder by 6K, which can then be reprinted by Relativity. The two companies will also explore new materials created specifically for rocket manufacturing and space travel.

Italian Scientific Research Center INFN Uses Stratasys 3D Printing to Produce Parts Certified for Use on the International Space Station

Mini EUSO, a first-of-its-kind cosmic UV telescope currently situated on the earth-facing window of the ISS, is housed by an entirely 3D printed structure

Using Stratasys FDM 3D printing in place of aluminum reduced production costs by a factor of ten, as well as saving close to one year in development time

Sintavia scales end-to-end applied additive technology

Brian Neff wants to leave nothing to chance. To ensure the quality of the high-value additively manufactured metal parts his company provides for the demanding aerospace and defense sectors, he believes it is imperative to have end-to-end control of the production process – from design and raw materials to final part inspection.

Oerlikon partners with United Launch Alliance to manufacture launch vehicle flight components

Oerlikon AM, the additive manufacturing unit of global technology powerhouse Oerlikon, announces it will provide metal additively manufactured qualification and flight components for United Launch Alliance’s (ULA) next-generation Vulcan Centaur rocket.
