Dassault Systèmes solutions help simulate and prevent contamination at Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan

- Combating COVID-19 through technology to restore social and economic operations

- Use of the simulation software SIMULIA XFlow in China's largest modular hospital, which was built to treat COVID-19 patients in 14 days
- Moving to a 3D cloud-based platform approach instead of the slower and outdated document-based approach

Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) announced that it is collaborating with China's Central-South Architectural Design Institute (CSADI) to support the simulation and evaluation of the virus spread in the immediate vicinity of Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan, China. This is in line with the newly issued strategy "From Things to Life" by Dassault Systèmes. The largest modular hospital for infectious diseases and COVID-19 patients surprised the world community with its short construction time of only 14 days. Using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, Dassault Systèmes and the CSADI simulate virus contamination and diffusion within the hospital's ventilation system to enable countermeasures to be taken in the event of contamination through ventilation.

CSADI, a strategic partner of Dassault Systèmes in China, is responsible for planning the Leishenshan hospital. A central role was played by the prevention of contamination of the nearby environment and the minimization of cross-infections in the hospital. To this end, Dassault Systèmes donated to CSADI the SIMULIA XFlow software based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. With this software it is possible to simulate indoor and outdoor fluids, the spread of viruses in ventilation systems and other projects within the hospital of Leishenshan.

"Dassault Systèmes' technology is focused on improving life and the future. The CSADI showed how quickly the construction of Leishenshan Hospital can be completed. SIMULIA XFlow from Dassault Systèmes was and is used to simulate the distribution pattern of indoor air and optimize the discharge of contaminated air in negative pressure stations to protect medical staff," said Zhang Shen, Director of Engineering Digital Technology Center, CSADI. "SIMULIA XFlow also simulates the effects of outdoor exhaust emissions on the surrounding environment, with the goal of facilitating the design and site selection of the modular hospital.

"Dassault Systèmes is committed to helping Chinese companies fight COVID-19 by providing technology to help them combat it. The focus of this assistance will be on restoring and developing business activities after the pandemic," said Ying Zhang, Managing Director, Greater China, Dassault Systèmes. "As a company, we have expanded our focus from things to life. Our concern for people drives us to make positive contributions to the environment during the pandemic and beyond by working with the CSADI in more hospitals. Every day, the power of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is demonstrated when it comes to collaboration and the benefits of a virtual twin in 3D. Systematically applied to design, engineering and manufacturing, it enables seamless collaboration anytime, anywhere, enabling all users to understand, experience and communicate. In the current crisis, our collaborative 3D cloud-based platform approach is replacing an older and slower document-based approach.
