Dassault Systèmes' Simulation Solutions Help Prevent Contamination Dispersion at Wuhan's Leishenshan Hospital

- Combat COVID-19 with technology to resume social and economic activity

- SIMULIA XFlow simulation software is used in China's largest modular hospital, built in 14 days to combat COVID-19

- The 3D collaborative platform approach in the cloud replaces an older, slower document centered approach

In line with its new strategic direction 'From things to life', Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) announces that it is working with the Institute of Architecture Design of South Central China (CSADI) to support the simulation and assessment of virus spread in the confined environment of Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan, China. This modular hospital, the largest hospital for infectious diseases and COVID-19 patients, surprised the world as it was built at 'Chinese speed' in 14 days. CSADI and Dassault Systèmes are using the simulation capabilities of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to simulate contamination and virus spread in the hospital's ventilation system to counteract the negative effects of unplanned ventilation risks.

A strategic partner of Dassault Systèmes in China, CSADI took on the design of the Leishenshan Hospital. Avoiding contamination of nearby environments is key to CSADI, especially minimizing cross infection in the hospital and any impact on outside communities, crowds and surroundings. To this end, Dassault Systèmes has donated to CSADI the SIMULIA XFlow software, powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, to simulate internal and external fluids and virus dispersion in ventilation systems, as well as other internal hospital projects.

CSADI has demonstrated 'Chinese speed' during the Leishenshan Hospital project and will use Dassault Systèmes' advanced SIMULIA XFlow software to simulate the internal air distribution scheme and optimize suggestions for improved contamination discharge in negative pressure rooms, with the goal of protecting medical personnel," said Zhang Shen, Director of CSADI's Digital Engineering Technology Center. "SIMULIA XFlow will also simulate the impacts of outdoor exhaust emissions on the surrounding area to assist in the design and selection of modular hospital locations.
