Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: FR0014003TT8, DSY.PA) announced that PESA Bydgoszcz SA., a leader among the Polish rolling stock manufacturers, has chosen the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from Dassault Systèmes to optimize the design process and significantly shorten time to market of new products. Signing off a contract for a 3-year project to implement the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in the product development area, is a part of the digital transformation process initiated by PESA.
Founded in 1851, PESA Bydgoszcz SA is a leading Polish manufacturer of electric and diesel trains, locomotives and trams. PESA products are used by millions of passengers in all regions of Poland as well as abroad – from the railway paths of Kazakhstan, through the trams routes of Moscow and a number of cities in middle Europe, to the regional connections in the Czech Republic, Germany and Italy. PESA products designs are developed in the Research & Development Department employing over 250 engineers. Importantly, at each subsequent manufacturing stage until the vehicle is ready-to-use and tested on PESA internal test tracks, all products are developed entirely in PESA Bydgoszcz SA.
Since the design works are conducted by extensive team, PESA needed a solution that would enable smooth, real time cooperation during the design process, including systematic supervision over product development processes, efficient data and access management and reduction of the amount of separated and fragmented data, affecting project costs and warranties. Further requirements were related to ensuring compliance to stringent industry regulations and fulfilling environmental protection standards.
After a detailed research among PLM vendors, PESA decided to take a digital platform approach and implement 3DEXPERIENCE platform as the best solution for optimizing their development and validation process. The “Global Modular Architecture” industry solution experience based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform will enable PESA to create innovative products tailored to customer needs, at the same time being in line with industry standards.
3DEXPERIENCE platform ensures access to one source of knowledge about the product and related processes (eng. Single Source of Truth), which translates to dramatically simplified process of designing and conducting projects. As a result, PESA will be able to increase design productivity, reduce quality issues and shorten products’ time to market. At the same time, the company will benefit from reduced retrofit and warranty service costs.
