Work is Changing Fast. Is Technology in the Way?

IT teams will play a critical role in helping their organizations manage and support the workforce of the future.

The nature of work is constantly changing as new technologies become available and employee attitudes, behaviors and demographics shift. In the most recent evolution, employees have begun taking greater charge of how, when and where they work. A new report from Frost & Sullivan examines what companies must do to stay ahead and get the most out of their workforce moving forward.

To take a closer look at the critical role enterprise IT teams will play in this transition, Frost & Sullivan recently gathered a group of IT experts and practitioners for a series of Virtual Think Tanks. These discussions, led by Michael Suby, Vice President of Research with Stratecast | Frost & Sullivan, focused on what steps IT departments can take now to help their companies navigate the future of work.

One key takeaway from these conversations is that there is a lot of potential to improve collaboration, efficiency and engagement, as long as employees and their technology are managed properly. "It's really about engaging people, helping them do their jobs, and making sure that they enjoy their jobs," said Joe Martin, Director of Solution Engineering with Sprint. In order to do that, companies must have an IT infrastructure that allows the tech team to provide more strategic support and innovation and respond quickly to changing needs.

The best practices, predictions and other takeaways that came out of the discussion are collected in a new article, "Work is Changing Fast. Is Technology in the Way?"
