BBW Mosbach-Heidelberg establishes certified IHK training course for 3-D printing with support from Compart

Compart's cooperation with the Berufsbildungswerk Mosbach-Heidelberg (BBW), which was concluded in mid-2020, is bearing new fruit: thanks to the donation of 3-D printers by Compart, the educational institution has been able to deepen its know-how in this field and gain further supporters in this promising market.

Thus, the BBW, which trains young adults with difficult access to education in application development, metal and wood processing and other areas, was able to invest another 30,000 euros in this project. From this amount, the Berufsbildungswerk bought high-quality machines and equipment for 3D printing, which in turn aroused the interest of organisations such as the Rhine Neckar Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and medium-sized companies.
The plan is to develop offers for further training and additional qualifications for 3-D printing that are also open to external parties. In this way, companies that want to train their employees in 3D printing can take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Berufsbildungswerk. BBW director Manfred Weiser is looking forward to another innovative focus of the Berufsbildungswerk, which wants to develop into a 3-D printing competence centre.
Hannes Hanke, trainer in the field of metal technology: "With this equipment, our concept and the possibilities it offers, we are at the forefront of 3-D printing. Our training in 3-D printing also includes applied robotics and adequately prepares young people for a future-oriented profession with secure prospects."
Compart and BBW also cooperate in the qualification of IT specialists: since the middle of last year, an apprentice from BBW has been completing a remote internship in Compart's education department. He is actively involved in the conception and implementation of e-learning programmes for internal and external basic training courses on XML, Node JS, TypeScript and JavaScript and has developed, among other things, text-to-speech services for the dubbing of training videos, which Compart offers to customers and interested parties as well as to its own employees.
Dr. Jörg-Alexander Boy, Head of Education Services at Compart: "The goal is to make our training programme more compact overall and to prepare it even better for the digital world. Of course, we also benefit from the support of the trainees at BBW. It is a fruitful cooperation for both sides."
Dr Gernot Haager, trainer for IT at BBW: "The tasks at Compart Education Services represent a very good combination of different requirements and offer ideal preparation for later work in the IT sector. In addition to the technical requirements, skills in the didactic area as well as in documentation and presentation are also promoted here."
Further internships as part of the cooperation are planned for 2022.
The Berufsbildungswerk Mosbach-Heidelberg (BBW) is a vocational training institution for young people with special training needs. For their holistic support, the BBW maintains various training centres, a vocational school, flats, leisure facilities and accompanying specialist services, all under one roof.
The BBW Mosbach-Heidelberg belongs to the Johannes-Diakonie Mosbach and has been in existence since 1977. Since September 2011, the Berufsbildungswerk has operated a location in Heidelberg, thus offering the possibility of training close to home in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.
