Innovative packaging solution "Racing Cars" for ABS Sweets wins "Corrugated board young talent" award
Winner Barbara Huemer began her career as an apprentice at Mondi Grünburg
Mondi, a worldwide leading manufacturer of packaging and paper solutions, was presented with the "Wellpappe Austria Award" yesterday in Vienna. Barbara Huemer, technical work planner at Mondi Grünburg, received the award in the category "Corrugated board young talents", in which the ideas of packaging technology apprentices and young designers* are judged.
The Dutch confectionery wholesaler ABS Sweets commissioned Mondi Grünburg to design a sustainable, new confectionery packaging in the form of a colourful toy car that attracts attention and combines fun and games.
"We are very happy about the award for the best young design", says Florian Döbl, Managing Director at Mondi Grünburg. "Barbara began her double apprenticeship in packaging technology and office management about four years ago with her Matura. After successfully completing her apprenticeship, she took over the position of a technical work planner. The Corrugated Board Young Talent Award is a great recognition for the high quality of our apprenticeship training".
"I enjoyed the 'Racing Cars' project very much, I had a free hand in design and implementation and was allowed to let off steam creatively. The fact that not only the customer appreciates this work, but that it even wins an award, is a very special success", says the winner Barbara Huemer.
The "Racing Cars" packaging is an attractive eye-catcher in the confectionery departments of numerous retail companies. There are six different graphic car designs, and to date around 120,000 packs have been produced.
