New site includes resources for scholarship opportunities, design contests, career building, donor funding, and more
The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) announces its redesigned website with the theme, “Investing in the Future: Changing Lives since 1956.” The new site offers an abundance of information for students, career seekers, industry suppliers, and donors to advance education in graphic communications.
PGSF’s redesigned website highlights its 65-year milestone of helping more than 6,000 students with their academic expenditures and with career building in the graphic communications industry. The site includes a timeline of the organization's history, which recognizes early endowments from Harris Graphics and Rockwell International as well as its first $100,000 endowment, donated by Madeline McClure Gegenheimer. PGSF awarded its first scholarships in 1958 and has since distributed more than $10 million in scholarships since 2000, with $500,000 in scholarships disbursed to 220 recipients at 92 schools in 2020 alone.
“We are thrilled to have a site that is easier to navigate for the diverse audiences we serve. The site is fresh, inspiring, and built out to evolve with our industry long into the future. We will continue to add new content and invite the educational, professional, and graduate communities to submit contributions to our blog and support our callout to the next generation of print and graphics professionals,” comments Jules Van Sant, Chair, PGSF.
Where are they now
The PGSF website features a selection of profiles of former scholarship recipients. Three standouts include the following:
Melissa DiVietri received a degree in Graphic Media Management with an emphasis in Advertising Integrated Marketing Communications from Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Michigan. She graduated in 2014 and went on to found DI Designs Studio, a digital media agency in Detroit.
Patrick Blend attended Waukesha County Technical College in Wisconsin, achieving his Associate of Applied Science: Graphic Design in 2008. He now works as an art director at Michaletz Zwief Ltd. in Mequon, Wisconsin, a digital and marketing communications agency.
Jeff Baker attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Graphic Communications Management, with a Minor in Business Administration. He graduated in August 2006 and is currently a Senior Account Manager at Shapco Printing Inc. in Minneapolis.
Meet PGSF Donors
PGSF proudly showcases the ongoing donations it receives from individuals as well as large corporations. New patrons can make contributions to an existing endowed fund established in the name of a person, organization, or local area, as a memorial or honorary gift for someone in the industry, or through a bequest in a will.
