Association’s cumulative donation exceeds $350,000 since 2019
The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) is pleased to announce that it has received a donation of more than $85,000 from the Great Lakes Graphics Association (GLGA). The funds will be used for the Illinois Education Foundation Scholarship endowment, administered by PGSF, to support Illinois-based students, educators, and institutions in graphic communications.
“The PGSF board truly appreciates the generosity of this amazing donation to be used to benefit students living in Illinois,” comments Steve Richards, PGSF board member and GLGA member. In total, the GLGA has donated more than $350,000 to PGSF since 2019.
Autumn Mercure of McHenry, Illinois, is a two-time recipient of the PGSF Illinois scholarship. “The PGSF scholarship I received in 2020 has helped me in so many ways throughout my first two years in college,” Mercure said. “Because of the funds I received I was able to focus solely on my studies during a worldwide pandemic, which allowed me to get a 4.0 GPA for my Associate's Degree. I have officially graduated with my Associates from McHenry County College and also have started an internship that focuses on graphic design. I will use all the amazing experiences I have gained through the PGSF scholarship to make my mark in the printing industry as I work towards my bachelor's degree at Illinois State University.”
Later this year, the GLGA will also donate to PGSF the proceeds from its annual golf outing scholarship event, now in its 9th year. This year’s golf outing will be held on July 20 at the White Pines Golf Club, located in Bensenville, IL. “We are so thankful to the efforts of the GLGA and the print community in Illinois who come out every year to support this event,” said Jeff White, Director of Development for the PGSF.
In 2021, more than 170 people participated in the Illinois golf outing, representing more than 60 companies in printing and finishing, as well as industry suppliers and college alumni.
“Our youngest attendee was 19 years old, and our oldest attendee was celebrating his 92nd birthday,” said Sharon Flick, Communications Director for GLGA.
