Antalis customers protect 1,190 acres of tropical forest

Thanks to the support of its customers, Antalis has balanced through the World Land Trust, 7,350 tonnes of CO2, protecting 1,190 acres of critically threatened tropical forest.

Antalis began its support of the World Land Trust in December 2015 after recognising the need to take positive action to help combat the world’s climate crisis. Over the last five years, the company has developed its scheme to make it easier for customers to participate in carbon balancing.
Antalis’ Carbon Balanced Paper scheme is a simple way for customers to balance the carbon emissions of their office paper and printed communications while enhancing the sustainability credentials of their brand.
Customers can now choose to offset any paper and board they purchase from Antalis’ ranges. The creative paper ranges, from Arjowiggins, are also already supplied fully carbon balanced as standard – a real key differentiator for clients and end users, and a demonstration of the commitment and partnership Antalis has with the WLT. Users of Carbon Balanced Paper can receive a certificate from World Land Trust quantifying the carbon offset and area of land preserved. Furthermore, they can print the World Land Trust Carbon Balanced Paper logo as mark of their commitment and Corporate Responsibility.
Katie Farr, Marketing & Communications Manager at Antalis commented: “Working with our customers to develop sustainable practices for our industry is hugely important to us and we’re delighted with the interest and support customers have shown for our carbon offsetting scheme through the World Land Trust. These latest figures, presenting our total achievement since joining the scheme on 1st December 2015, demonstrate the significant positive impact of our joint actions.”
Carbon balancing paper and board is achieved through the preservation of ecologically important standing forests that are under real and imminent threat of clearance, locking in carbon that would otherwise be released and securing continued absorption of CO2 from the atmosphere.
The World Land Trust is an international conservation charity that protects the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre.
Dan Bradbury, Director of Communications and Development, World Land Trust, says, “Antalis’ continued commitment to the Carbon Balanced Paper programme has made a huge impact on our conservation efforts in Vietnam, one of the most biologically diverse countries on Earth. Khe Nuoc Trong is essential habitat for 40 globally threatened species, including Southern White-Cheeked Gibbon, Crested Argus and the Red Shanked Douc, one of the world’s most endangered monkeys. The support of Antalis and its customers enables World Land Trust to continue to preserve these incredible habitats, protecting the species living within them, and keeping the carbon locked in.”
