Atex announces new organisation structure to meet a rapidly changing digital publishing scenario
The media industry is evolving rapidly, and the news publishing world is adapting to a digital-only business. Print is still an important revenue source but is also the primary cost base.
Publishers are looking for fully automated print production and zero effort IT management. Simple and powerful content production interfaces that enable advanced digital journalism, including video and audio editing, data-driven journalism, social engagement and support for multiple business models.
Advertising is also evolving. We are approaching the “cookie-less” era where publishers can no longer rely on 3rd party user behaviour tracking but need to engage with users willing to share their interests and needs. On one hand, this might represent a threat to publishers, but on the other is also a new opportunity for selling multi-channel personalized campaigns.
To address the changing market, Atex is introducing, with immediate effect, a new organizational model. This will consist of two business units, Content and Advertising, now incorporating both the print and digital skills for each line of business.
The Content Management business unit, led by Gian Camillo Vezzoli, will focus on digital-first publishing while supporting a more efficient and high-quality print workflow. “By adding new tools such as SEO helper, long-form editor, digital video editing and more, “ says Vezzoli, “we aim to be the one-stop-shop for growing media companies in a multichannel publishing scenario”.
The Advertising Management business unit, led by Tom York, will provide the best advertising booking and production workflow across all channels. “Every media company is unique and workflows change between print, digital, radio, video and out-of-home,” says York. “For this reason, our solution provides complete flexibility, and our team has the skill and experience to tailor it as required”.
Each business unit contains an Operations team and a Development team, reporting directly to the Business Unit Manager. The Sales team has a dotted line reporting to both BU managers and maintains the responsibility of selling all products and services, including software, cloud solutions, bespoke development and managed services.
