Analyst Firm Predicts Global Mobile Entertainment Market to Grow to $61.6 Billion in 2019

IE Market Research Corporation releases results of survey conducted among over 50,000 consumers in 50 countries

IE Market Research Corporation (IEMR), the global provider of market research and business strategy services in the telecommunications space, announced today the release of its 3Q.2014 Global Mobile Entertainment Forecast, 2014 - 2019.

"We think that the global mobile entertainment market will see significant growth over the next five years. Globally, we are expecting mobile entertainment revenue to rise from $47.8 billion in 2014 to $61.6 billion in 2019-- an increase of 5.1%," said Koichi Miyazawa, President & CEO at IEMR. The forecast provides country-specific data for Mobile Music, Mobile Gaming, Mobile Personalization, Mobile TV, and other premium content usage.

Some key highlights of our forecast include:

-- We expect that Mobile TV will see the biggest growth in revenues globally over the next five years. We forecast that global Mobile TV revenues will increase from $5.7 billion in 2014 to $9.7 billion in 2019, a CAGR of 10.4%.

-- Mobile music continues to be the largest mobile entertainment sub-segment. Based on our surveys, we are forecasting that the number of users downloading paid music over mobile networks will increase from 910 million in 2014 to 1.31 billion in 2019, generating total revenue of $14.9 billion.

-- We expect stable growth in Mobile Music and Gaming over the next five years. However we expect Mobile Personalization revenue to decrease from $3.2 billion in 2014 to $2.8 billion in 2019.
