Brand New Machine Room from Muller Martini: Faroz Produces Books and Magazines for Tajikistan and Export Markets

With its state-of-the-art hardcover, softcover, book sewing and saddle stitching systems from Muller Martini, the Faroz printing plant in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe is set to produce books and magazines both for Tajikistan and for export markets.

Faroz's cutting-edge machine room in Dushanbe, Tajikistan's capital, featuring a Diamant MC 35 bookline, a joint forming and pressing machine, an endsheet gluing unit, a case maker, a Ventura MC book sewing machine, a Pantera perfect binding line and a Presto II saddle stitcher, could pass for a Muller Martini showroom. It is by far the most modern facility for book and magazine production in the whole Asian part of the former Soviet Union.

Tajikistan's President Emomalii Rahmon inaugurated the new book production site in person. He announced at the opening that in future all state textbooks, as well as other print products, will be exclusively produced by Faroz. In addition, products printed on a KBA Rapida 106 sheet-fed offset printing press, which is also brand new, will be exported to other former Soviet republics such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, to the neighboring country of Afghanistan as well as to China and Pakistan.

Faroz is a privately held joint-stock company that engages in several fields of industry and commerce. The Faroz group trades in petroleum products, is soon to open a paper mill for the processing of locally produced cotton and the production of special paper types using bought-in cellulose, operates the only 24-hour tank station in Dushanbe, recently opened a driving school for truck drivers and is building a recreation center for the local population
