FESPA 2021: Canon Colorado 1630 and Canon Arizona 135 GT inspire with creative large formats in colour

Premiere for the Canon Colorado 1630 and Canon Arizona 135 GT smart printers: at FESPA Global Print Expo 2021 from 12 to 15 October 2021 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Canon will show live and proverbial in colour what is possible when it comes to creative large format printing. The foretaste of the many possibilities will whet the appetite of sign makers and print service providers for Canon UV gel, the technology for matte and gloss finishes.

The new Colorado 1630 demonstrates how signage, commercial printing and print services in general can take advantage of all the proven benefits of UV gel technology as an attractive investment. The modular architecture of the Canon Colorado 1630 makes it possible to adapt the printer to individual requirements: Options such as FLXfinish, an LED curing technology that gives flexibility to any print for a matt or gloss finish, or a second media roll and duplex printing without manual intervention are available.
The UVgel Wallpaper Factory production line, featuring the Canon Colorado 1650 and Fotoba's JRL 170 automated jumbo roll loader, combined with the XLD 170WP cutter and REW 162 rewinder, demonstrates a complete end-to-end solution - also available as an upgrade for existing production lines. The Colorado Wallpaper Factory is designed for maximum throughput and offers a fully automated solution for the production of high-quality individual wallpapers, one of the fastest growing industries. In recognition of the importance of this market segment, Canon has joined the Global Wallcoverings Association (IGI), which is considered a valuable, comprehensive and authoritative source of information for the wallpaper industry.
In the UVgel Universal Factory, a Canon Colorado 1650, linked to a Fotoba Jumbo Roll Rewinder and a Jumbo Roll Loader, demonstrates impressively how production can be carried out 24/7, 365 days a year, without active operation. Production is accelerated and delivery times shortened. Production can also be monitored and controlled remotely via a remote control app.
The Canon Arizona 135 GT flatbed printer, launched in June this year, is another highlight: for printers looking to expand into large format or diversify with new applications, the Canon Arizona 135 GT opens up a host of new possibilities and offers the proven benefits of Canon's award-winning Arizona series at attractive entry-level prices. The Arizona 135 GT is the only printer in its segment with an upgradeable roll media option to produce on flexible media. Together with Arizona Xpert software, it produces tactile prints on an extensive range of rigid and flexible media.
The Canon Arizona 2380 XTF demonstrates how to improve efficiency and increase growth opportunities. Based on Arizona FLOW technology, productivity can be increased by more than 20 per cent - by quickly fusing the substrate to the flatbed, even on more demanding media such as board, wood and glass.
The flatbed printer will also print a range of textured applications using Touchstone software, including interior decoration, Braille, fine art reproduction and retail POS displays. ProCare, the established after-sales service model for Canon's Colorado printers, is now available for Canon's Arizona flatbed printer range, creating a unique and consistent service approach. ProCare offers maximum uptime, full cost transparency, high return on investment and received an average customer satisfaction rating of 95 per cent.
At FESPA 2021, Canon will also be demonstrating for the first time the characteristics of its new UV LED ink set on the Canon Arizona 135 GT. The new IJC358 ink set has excellent adhesion properties, making it ideal for industrial applications where more complex materials such as plastics are printed.
The greater flexibility of the IJC358 ink also means that it adheres better to the media both during the finishing process and when the finished media is applied to a surface such as a wall or in the case of glass. IJC358 is available in the same 800-millilitre, 2-litre and 3-litre containers as Canon's IJC357 ink set and includes CMYK, light cyan, light magenta and white.

While the IJC357 inks deliver a glossier result, the IJC358 inks produce a matte finish, which are preferred for industrial applications. And from an environmental perspective, the IJC358, which is also GREENGUARD Gold certified, offers the same environmental guarantee as the IJC357 ink set. Canon printers at the show will be supported by ONYX 21 RIP and OneVision workflow automation software. There will also be a demonstration of an automated workflow using Canon Colorado and Arizona printers, OneVision software and a Zünd S3 digital cutter, which will be on show on the adjacent OneVision stand (1-104).
In line with the FESPA 2021 slogan 'Bringing Colour Back', Canon will be showcasing a wide range of colour-intensive large format applications throughout the stand under the Canon slogan 'A Taste of Colour'. This includes posters, banners, floor graphics, double-sided backlights, wallpaper, cardboard, automotive films and textile films.
Wouter Derichs, Sales & Marketing Director, Large Format Graphics EMEA at Canon Production Printing, comments: "For those looking to expand into new markets, the Canon Colorado 1630 and Canon Arizona 135 GT are the perfect choice. These recently launched presses, based on feedback from the market, bring highly automated technology to the market at an attractive investment level. But we are particularly excited to return to FESPA 2021 after two years without live events, and to have the opportunity to produce and demonstrate colour-intensive applications live in real time. Our focus at the event is to showcase the range of Canon solutions to meet business and volume requirements. The last 18 months have been challenging for many Canon is now helping to focus resources and energies on business recovery and value creation. This is the way back to sustainable business growth."
