WAN-IFRA announces biggest-ever 7 million Euro funding to support sector-leading Women in News programme.

The 4-year grant from Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, will enable WAN-IFRA's Women in News programme to expand to new markets, launch global research initiatives, and build internal capacity to operate the programme throughout the Arab Region and Sub-Saharan Africa. The grant is the largest received to date by WAN-IFRA in support of its media freedom work. It marks the continuation of a nearly decade-long partnership with Sida.

WAN-FRA joins Stars4Media, a new European programme for young media professionals

WAN-IFRA joins Stars4Media.eu, an exchange programme for young media professionals to boost media innovation and cross-border cooperation in Europe. A media-driven, pilot project co-funded by the European Union, Stars4Media will support 100 promising young news media professionals working together around collaborative innovative project-based initiatives.

Spain to host the World News Media Congress in 2020

The World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) invites the world's press to attend the 72nd World News Media Congress, the 27th World Editors Forum and the 4th Women in News Summit to be held in Zaragoza, Spain from 17 to 19 June 2020. The annual meeting of the world's press will be organised in partnership with Henneo, one of Spain's leading media and technology companies, which celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2020. The Congress will take place at the Congreso de Zaragoza.

WAN-IFRA announces first participants in Table Stakes Europe to support local journalism

WAN-IFRA announces the names of the participating publishers in its inaugural Table Stakes Europe programme to support local media in its digital transformation. Supported by the Google News Initiative, the coaching programme centers around a performance challenge and builds on the success of the same programme in the United States.

WAN-IFRA Print Innovation Awards 2019 Winners Announced.

The World Printers Forum, the print community of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), announces the winners of the Print Innovation Awards 2019. The prize for innovations of newspapers and magazines will be presented on the first exhibition day of the IFRA World Publishing Expo, 8 October 2019, in Berlin.

The International Color Quality Club (ICQC) 2020–2022, the only global print quality contest for newspapers and magazines, is back again, and the registration starts from 20th Aug 2019. The winners of the WAN-IFRA's Asian Media Awards were announced on May 8, during the Publish Asia/Newsroom Summit Asia 2019 conferences in Singapore. WAN-IFRA's Media Awards provide news publishers with regular showcases in the region. This year, South China Morning Post makes clean sweep of Newspaper Infographics category; Singapore media companies take top three spots for Best News Photo.
