Dresden Packaging Conference becomes an online event

From 2nd to 4th December 2020 the German Packaging Institute e. V. (dvi) invites all players from industry, brands, trade, science and research together with students to the traditional year-end meeting of the industry. On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the Dresden Packaging Conference will take place online this year as "Digital Packaging Days". The network platform focuses on the topics of sustainability, recycling management and digitalisation.

The form is new, but the appeal and value will remain the same. On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the Dresden Packaging Conference will take place online this year as the "Digital Packaging Days". "Unfortunately, this year our participants will have to do without the traditional flair of the Dresden Christmas markets. But apart from that, the dvi's Digital Packaging Days offer the usual high-quality content and top speakers. The network character and the unique opportunity to get in touch with students of packaging related courses of study will also be maintained. For this purpose we rely on a special match-making tool. I'm sure that even in the times of Corona as an interactive network meeting point and dialogue platform, we will continue to bring the central topics relating to packaging to the point," says dvi managing director and conference host Winfried Batzke.
The dvi's Digital Packaging Days begin on Wednesday with student panels for sustainability projects of various companies. On Thursday and Friday, the event will offer participants presentations by experts from leading companies from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In addition, exciting start-ups with innovative products and services will be presented. Interactive participation and networking of the participants is made possible and is welcome.
Sustainability on the 1st Digital Packaging Day
On the Thursday of the conference, the game changer topic of sustainability will be the focus of attention. The range of short presentations will extend from sustainability strategies for retail and branded companies and recycling possibilities for packaging made of paper composites to start-ups with exciting products and services. The speakers include experts from the branded goods manufacturer Kneipp and Delkeskamp Papierfabrik, one of only a few paper mills in Germany with expertise in the recycling of paper composites. Among the start-ups presented on Thursday are the recyclate platform cirplus and Papair, which shines with innovative upholstery material made of paper.
Digitisation on the 2nd Digital Packaging Day
How do SMEs digitalise their processes and develop new business models from them? How can digital technologies increase the efficiency of internal processes, bring convenience and added value to customers and help the circular economy to make a breakthrough? The second dialogue day will focus on the topic of digitisation. Speakers include experts from Actega, the special coatings, inks and adhesives manufacturer. Among the start-ups presented will be PackPart, which uses an automated, digital matching system to bring together project enquiries from companies and matching manufacturers of packaging machinery.
In the run-up: student panels for sustainability projects and university dialogue on 2 December
The Digital Packaging Days will already be launched on 2 December with student panels where selected companies will present their concrete sustainability projects to students from packaging technology degree programmes. Interested companies can contact the dvi until the beginning of November. This will be followed by the traditional Higher Education Dialogue, which will also take place online this year. Participants include BHT Berlin, FH Campus Wien, DHBW Karlsruhe, FH München, HAW Hamburg, HDM Stuttgart, HS Hannover, HS Kempten and HTWK Leipzig.
