Driving Innovation: alfa Media and Aptoma collaborate to automate print production

alfa Media and Aptoma are intensifying their collaboration to provide an advanced solution for the automated design of print pages. The primary goal of this collaboration is to enable customers to work better and more efficiently, greatly simplifying workflow and reducing costs.

The use of Aptoma’s Print Automation enables customers to design their print pages automatically. Combined with alfa EditorialOrganiser and Digital Asset Manager, this allows them to shift resources to article creation and digital curation and spend more time on the digital side of the business.

“Aptoma delivers a technically sophisticated solution based on proven web technologies that enables our customers to automatically design their print pages without any loss of quality. Especially the editing and updating of print pages in real time leads to higher flexibility and productivity within the publishers,” says Oliver Andrich, CTO of alfa Media, about the cooperation.

alfa Media acts as Aptoma’s partner for the D-A-CH region and offers comprehensive support at all levels. As an integrator, alfa Media not only takes care of the implementation of the solution but is also a dedicated project partner who understands the individual requirements of the customers and develops solutions to achieve their goals. In addition, alfa Media provides extensive support, both technical and workflow, to ensure that the maximum is achieved with the product. Training is also provided by alfa Media to ensure that each client has the necessary know-how and skills to work efficiently and successfully with the automated article layouts.

The automated layout allows for efficient page design. The flat learning curve facilitates the introduction of the product into everyday editorial work and enables a smooth page layout parallel to content creation. Article layouts are automatically created based on content and metadata. By adapting the layout to the size of the article, a seamless change is made possible. In addition, overlapping ads can influence the layout. Alternative suggestions for article layouts are always available for optimised selection.

The tasks of editors and page designers will continue to be of central importance. They are responsible for the creation, editing, enrichment, selection, and placement of content as well as the selection of layout alternatives. The adaptation of layouts and the release of pages are also their responsibility. Automated layout enables efficient page design, with key print staff retaining and even improving their control of the final product.

“We are proud to partner with Aptoma to offer an innovative print automation solution. With the combination of our products, publishers can greatly optimise their production, saving time and resources while continuing to deliver high-quality content. We believe our collaboration will make a positive difference in the industry and look forward to working with Aptoma to support our customers,” says Michael Marcks, CEO of alfa Media.

“We look forward to helping alfa Media replicate in the DACH region the efficiency gains we have seen for hundreds of Nordic titles. We are inspired by this partnership”, says Geir Berset, CEO of Aptoma AS.
