New materials and applications and student generated designs will be on show

Epson is presenting the Ecotex synthetic leather printing solution at FESPA. This option enables the Epson SureColor SC-S series models to print directly onto synthetic leather for clothing, furniture, automotive and motor cycle applications as well as promotional products.

The easy-to-use solution on show consists of the printer, Ecotex option and special software (written by Dev Studio), which combine to generate top quality results.
Richard Barrow, Senior Product Manager – Production LFP, says: “Ecotex is an innovative Italian company with years of experience. They provide us with the best synthetic leather solution for the market and offer a range of materials to suit different applications. We are pleased to add both Ecotex and Dev Studio to the stand at this year’s FESPA and have high hopes for this solution and the business opportunities it brings to our customers. Many other third parties will be on hand at the Epson stand at FESPA including Avery, DryTac, Innova, Sihl and Neschen.”
Epson will also introduce new production grade media, that will be available later on in the year, to fill a gap in the Epson portfolio of photo papers. It will be available in gloss and semigloss surfaces at 200gsm weight and is aimed at Epson T series and P series users producing photos and high end posters.
First year BA Textile Design students from Birmingham City University, England, will provide designs suitable for wall coverings, cushions, table tops, flooring and curtains on the stand. They are using Dulux’s optimistic ACT colour pallet, which is described as appealing to a home dweller who is bold and brave, fun but uncomplicated. The students are working on designs that provide dramatic impact, show sensitive detail, contain playful imagery and combine lively colour. Many of the students will incorporate embroidery, weave and knit on top of the digital print produced on SureColor technology.
Heather Kendle, market development manager for Epson Europe, says: “It is great to have students involved in the look and feel of our stand. This is the third year that we have worked with BCU and the quality continues to impress us. We have selected designs that we believe will help demonstrate both the versatility of the equipment and the creativity of young designers, hopefully inspiring visitors to FESPA to consider how they can develop their business.
