Canon Crosses a Milestone in its Planting and/or Distribution of 500,000 Trees in Support of the Arbor Day Foundation's "Replanting Our Forests" Program

With hurricanes and severe weather sweeping the country and taking their toll on trees nationwide, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, stays steadfast in its commitment to support the Arbor Day Foundation's "Replanting Our Forests" program. The Company successfully helped to contribute to the planting or distribution of more than 500,000 trees in the United States since 2009.

"The Arbor Day Foundation is a prime example of our commitment to engaging in activities that promote social and environmental responsibility across the nation," says Shinichi Yoshida, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Canon U.S.A. Inc. "We are honored to play a role in helping to revitalize forests in the United States and help benefit future generations."

The Arbor Day Foundation implements reforestation initiatives across the country to rebuild forests that are in desperate need of regrowth. Through this program, Canon helped contribute to the distribution or planting of one tree for every eligible imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction system sold from April 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018, up to a maximum of 50,000 trees.

Canon's strong commitment to the environment is evident in the product design, manufacturing, and operation of the imageRUNNER ADVANCE series. These models help encourage users to work more conscientiously while allowing administrators to enable multiple settings that can help save energy and paper. All current* imageRUNNER ADVANCE models are ENERGY STAR® certified**, currently rated EPEAT Gold***, and offer low Typical Electricity Consumption (TEC) ratings.

With the company's support, the foundation planted and distributed trees this year in Bastrop Lost Pines Forest in Texas to support wildlife habitat improvement, Superior National Forest in Minnesota to help climate resiliency, and Withlacoochee State Forest in Florida for watershed restoration purposes.

"Canon's corporate support is an incredible benefit to our program and we thank the team for their ongoing support," says Dan Lambe, president, Arbor Day Foundation. "Their contributions can be seen through revitalized forests and communities that, until recently, had lost the benefits that a full forest brings to the environment."
