Climate protection with greater leverage: ClimatePartner enters the new year with record growth

Further expansion plans around climate protection solutions for companies

Even though the past year was overshadowed by the Corona pandemic, climate protection remains the primary issue for the future. Accordingly, ClimatePartner has stepped up its efforts in 2020. Not only in terms of the number of clients and the climate protection projects they support, but also in terms of teams, the establishment of new locations and expanded expertise around holistic climate protection, the company reports overwhelming growth, which is set to continue next year.

Between January and December 2020, the team strength was increased to now 120 and additional international offices were opened in London and The Hague. The associated increase in expertise also brought an enlarged range of solutions. These include services around renewable energies, CDP and Science Based Targets consulting, further development of the software for calculating and offsetting CO2 emissions, the online events of the ClimatePartner Academy and a strong focus on the aspects of emissions reduction and avoidance.

Climate-neutral companies and products

For more and more companies, cooperation with ClimatePartner is an important element of their corporate and product strategies. Accordingly, the number of clients has now grown to more than 3,000 companies from 35 countries. The most strongly represented sectors are retail, food and consumer goods producers as well as printers and paper processing industries. They all rely on the climate neutrality achieved with ClimatePartner and increasingly signal this through the climate neutral label on their products.

Moritz Lehmkuhl, founder and CEO of ClimatePartner: "The visible will of many companies to become active in climate protection confirms us and drives us on. More than three quarters of our customers have already given us feedback that they want to further intensify their efforts to reduce their emissions in 2021. We see this as both a great sign of confidence and a mandate."

Outlook 2021 - 15 years of ClimatePartner

The growth recorded in 2020 is to be continued in 2021, when ClimatePartner can celebrate its 15th birthday. The plan is to further expand the expert teams and customer support as well as to intensify further software development around the calculation, reduction and offsetting of CO2 emissions. In addition, further offices are to be opened in Paris, Stockholm, Milan and Barcelona in order to be able to support companies even more directly on site.

The range of climate protection projects will also be further expanded next year. Here, the focus will be on new projects, particularly afforestation and reforestation projects in South America as well as project developments around more efficient cooking stoves in Africa.

Moritz Lehmkuhl: "Not least our own business development shows what a high success factor lies in the combination of climate protection and innovation work. We want to continue on this path in order to work towards achieving the 1.5 degree target."
