Arkados' CEO Explains "The Evolution of the Smart Building" at Smart City Summit & Expo 2015 in Taipei

Terrence DeFranco to discuss how Internet of Things technologies are revolutionizing building automation

Today Arkados Group, Inc. (OTCQB: AKDS) (the "Company" or "Arkados"), a leading software developer and system integrator enabling Internet of Things ("IoT") applications, announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Terrence DeFranco, was a featured speaker at the 2015 Smart City Summit & Expo, held January 20th to 22nd in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Smart City Expo, an annual event launched by Taiwanese corporations, encourages the building of smart cities. The goal is to recognize the business opportunities underlying this global trend as well as the tremendous benefits a smart city has for its citizens, businesses and government. The Expo was organized by the Taipei Computer Association and attendees included many major corporations from across the world, including sponsors such as Ericsson Taiwan, IBM Taiwan and STMicroelectronics. Mr. DeFranco presented 'The Evolution of Smart Buildings,' a comprehensive and informational look at the conventional definition of the Smart Building and how advances in technology, primarily in the context of the Internet of Things, is changing the landscape to create a new paradigm in building automation. Mr. DeFranco also provided insight into the building of the future and how a truly intelligent building is an important component of much broader systems, such as the Smart City. Finally, Mr. DeFranco discussed how the collaboration among all involved parties is required to make the adoption of broad scale Internet of Things applications a reality.

"Firstly, we are very thankful to our colleagues at Tatung Co. for inviting us to be part of such a great event. In order for the Internet of Things evolution to continue in building automation, we must explore the impact of the building in a broader sense, embrace an era of collaboration and deploy sustainable, flexible and pervasive solutions that advance this evolution for generations. Our presentation at this exhibition gives many examples of how to use evolutionary, cutting-edge technologies to enhance the value of buildings in terms of wellness, efficiency, and comfort while simultaneously improving efficiency and productivity of its occupants, lowering operating costs and minimizing environmental impact. Arkados' LinqUSP and Process and Event Management System are designed with these goals in mind and we are very pleased that the market is recognizing the inherent value of these technologies."
