BOBST has joined the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), reflecting its commitment to urgent climate action

BOBST has committed to set near-term company-wide emission reductions by joining the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and is enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science.

UPM Raflatac has made further progress towards a more circular economy for plastics and a future beyond fossils during 2021. This is detailed in the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment 2022 Progress Report by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). UPM opens state-of-the-art CHP plant at Europe's largest paper mill: Flexible participation in the electricity market promotes energy transition

UPM Nordland Paper today officially opened a new cogeneration plant at its site in Dörpen, Emsland, Germany. UPM has invested EUR 100 million in the power plant, which will supply the paper mill with heat and electricity. The CHP plant will reduce CO2 emissions by a total of 300,000 tonnes per year. As it will actively participate in the electricity market, it also stabilises the energy system and contributes to better integration of renewable energy.

Better with Less - Design Challenge: Jury looks for recyclable packaging

This year, the focus of the "Better with Less - Design Challenge" is on packaging solutions that are easy to recycle, use resources more efficiently and produce no waste. The competition was launched on 1 June and runs until 1 December 2022. In a newly released video, the nine renowned jury members make statements on the circular economy and explain the role that packaging designers have to play.
