BOBST has engineered success with Rigid Containers Ltd. at this year’s UK Packaging Awards. BOBST’s DRO 1628 NT RS rotary die-cutter won the ‘Investment project of the year’ category for Rigid Containers Ltd. which honors the investment or installation project which has had the greatest impact on a company or the wider market.
The BOBST installation follows a period of intense investment at Rigid’s Wellington site, since it opened in 2015. Group Managing Director Richard Coward, said: “The investment completes our strategic positioning in the west country and was the next logical step for us, as customer demand continues to grow. We have high quality post print (HQPP) capabilities at our other sites in Desborough and Selby. Now we have the DRO 1628 NT RS at Wellington we can also service HQPP requirements from the south-west, further reducing lead times.”
The judges commented: “Rigid’s brave new plant investment continues with a latest generation high-quality post print which has been greatly welcomed by their customers in the South West.”
Award judges included experts from retailers Sainsbury’s, M&S and Waitrose and major brands including Nestlé, alongside major packaging organizations including INCPEN and the Foodservice Packaging Association.
