Brandtjen & Kluge and LasX Impress Visitors with CartonsInMinutesTM Demonstration at Pack Expo

Brandtjen & Kluge (Kluge) and LasX showcased an integrated digital finishing line as part of their CartonsInMinutesTM exhibit earlier this week in Las Vegas at Pack Expo 2015. Visitors observed a live demonstration of "CartonsInMinutesTM" a continuous digital process that converts digitally printed media to finished goods in minutes, not days or weeks.

"In an effort to develop a world class digital print finishing solution Kluge and LasX formed a strategic alliance in 2012," said Michael Aumann, chief executive officer at Kluge. "The response from Pack Expo attendees confirmed that our efforts were on target and well timed."
LasX and Kluge have integrated technology from each company to produce a system that can be operated in-line or near-line with any digital printing press. The system configuration includes laser processing and robotic blanking using variable data from LasX and modular paper transporting and folding and gluing systems designed for quick changeover from Kluge. The result is a cost effective system for one-to-one folding cartons with complete personalization and instant order change. A double-tuck folding carton was laser cut, laser scored, blanked and folded and glued in-line. Laser cutting and scoring streamlines folding carton manufacturing by reducing lead time, eliminating costly tooling and reducing or eliminating work in process.
"We were very pleased with the positive feedback that we received from visitors at our exhibit." said LasX Vice President, David Pung. "The variety of companies who showed interest in our system was great, from brand owners to packaging manufacturers to contract manufacturing companies. We believe we have an excellent solution for any company that is looking for a finishing system in a digital print workflow."
The CartonsInMinutesTM process can be scaled to meet the needs of any digital production environment. Speeds as high as 15,000 cartons per hour can be converted with instant order change capabilities for continuous production. Both sheet-fed and roll-fed solutions are available.
