Folienprint Rako Expands Digital Print Fleet with New HP Indigo 20000 Digital Presses

Folienprint Rako GmbH, an All4Labels Group company, is expanding its digital printing know-how by adding new HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press machines to its existing fleet. The expert in flexible packaging and shrink sleeves now has four HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press machines at its disposal at several group locations.

The digital printing solution offers print converters of flexible packaging a variety of options to efficiently and profitably meet the growing demand for smaller editions, an ever-increasing variety of products and individualised campaigns. HP Indigo provides the only digital colour printing process that delivers print quality close to rotogravure quality and the safety needed to produce primary food packaging.
Satisfied users for 20 years
The All4Labels Group has been using HP Indigo printers for nearly 20 years, with Folienprint Rako acquiring the first HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press in 2015. Since then, the company has continuously expanded its expertise in digital printing, positioning itself for the future.
“Foils and packaging can be a great help to companies in promoting their products,” says Doris Erhardt-Freitag, Managing Director of Folienprint Rako GmbH. “Digital printing promises great potential in this area in particular: in addition to high-quality results, production is more cost-effective, simpler, more flexible and faster than with other processes. In addition, customers can design their packaging individually – a special eye-catcher for the end consumer.”
In recent months, the order situation in digital printing has developed positively and more and more companies are recognizing the potential of this production method. Recently, Folienprint Rako used the HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press fleet to produce labels for the limited design edition of the Pril dishwasher classic with its popular floral patterns. In addition to the digital printing solution, the HP SmartStream Mosaic customisation software and PrintOS Composer, for the processing of PDF documents with variable data, were used – making each bottle unique.
“We are excited about the capabilities of the HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press and the co-operation with HP from the beginning,” adds Doris Erhardt Freitag. “We and our customers are particularly impressed by the high quality of the prints and the individualization and personalization options, which are becoming more and more relevant. In addition, HP is constantly developing its printers with innovations and addressing market and consumer requirements. With HP, we have a strong, innovative and future-oriented partner at our side and the investment in further HP Indigo 2000 Digital Presses is the next logical step for the expansion and growth of our business.”
Fast, Flexible and Cost-Efficient
The HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press has a web width of up to 760mm and a print speed of up to 42m/min, enabling high-volume, large-format label printing on a wide range of media. HP SmartStream Mosaic is a software application that automatically generates a large number of unique graphic patterns from an original pattern.
To create print-ready PDFs, Folienprint uses HP PrintOS Composer, a cloud-based application based on high-performance central servers, to quickly create print files from variable data. PrintOS Composer creates compact PDF files for optimized fast processing on HP DFEs, significantly faster than traditional non-cloud tools. The ability to use PrintOS Composer on-demand without hardware installation, simplified and accelerated the production of slide printing.
