Henkel Adhesive Technologies and Quad Industries, Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, today have announced the expansion of their strategic partnership to offer capacities and support for technological value creation and prototyping with printed electronics solutions across multiple industries. The companies started their collaboration in 2019 and since then successfully worked on different projects such as the development of the innovative COVID-19 smart health patch introduced by Byteflies that was launched in 2020. With the advancement of the partnership Quad Industries has become a strategic partner in Henkel´s ecosystem for design creation, prototyping and manufacturing of printed electronics via flatbed screen printing.

Preh volume control in the new Audi A3 operates with touch technology from PolyIC

Touch sensors from Kurz subsidiary PolyIC have been integrated into capacitive volume controls from the automotive supplier Preh. The control is located on the center console of the new Audi A3, model AU380. It can be conveniently operated by the front passenger and controlled either via a mechanical push function or capacitive touch function.

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, is freeing up valuable space on printed circuit boards (PCBs) for design engineers with its new compact AMPMODU wire-to-board receptacles with crimp contacts and shrouded headers. With centerline distances of 2 mm, they occupy 38 percent less space on a PCB than connectors with a 2.54 mm [0.100”] centerline.

Due to the increasing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Europe and on the basis of the recommendations of the Bavarian State Government as well as of the responsible health authorities, Messe München feels compelled to cancel LOPEC 2020. This measure is taken in consultation with the industry association OE-A, co-organizer of LOPEC, and in responsibility for the health of exhibitors and visitors. The next LOPEC will be held on March 23 to 25, 2021.

Cameras, light barriers and motion detectors have one thing in common: they work with light sensors, which are already indispensable in many applications. In the future, these sensors could also play an important role in telecommunications by enabling data transmission using light. Scientists from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) at the InnovationLab in Heidelberg have succeeded in taking a decisive step forward in this development: printable light sensors that can see colors. They have now published their results in the journal Advanced Materials (DOI: 10.1002/adma.201908258).
