At CES 2016, Discover the Virtual Reality Content Platform That Is Reinventing Retail; Like "Minecraft for Shopping"

From iPad to Oculus, and YouTube360 to Google Cardboard, see how VisualCommerce™ is mainstreaming VR and AR with practical, interactive applications designed for all users.

Marxent, the leader in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) for enterprise retailers and manufacturers, announced that they will be exhibiting in the AR/VR pavilion at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The company will be offering live demos of a retail shopping AR/VR experience that is powered by VisualCommerce™, the virtual products platform.

"Recent large investments in virtual reality devices have opened the door for the next big wave of opportunity – software to develop and manage the 3D content that makes these devices useful," said Dan Gilbert, Founder and Managing Partner at Detroit Venture Partners. "Marxent's innovative approach has taken the device out of the equation, unlocking the potential of AR and VR for the masses. With AR and VR on the cusp of widespread adoption, Marxent will be the company that helps take it to the next level, and VisualCommerce™ will be the content engine behind it all."

Major home improvement brands rely on Marxent's VisualCommerce™ to store, render and relate thousands of 3D products and to publish AR/VR experiences seamlessly across multiple devices. For example, the system allows consumers to configure 3D home improvement projects on an iPad, visualize their selections in 360-degree virtual reality with an Oculus Rift and export their projects to YouTube 360 for viewing at home with Google Cardboard.

"Retailers and manufacturers can be hesitant when it comes to implementing emerging technologies like AR and VR. There is an underlying fear that new systems will pose integration challenges, will be too complex, will fail to scale to enterprise operations, or that they'll make the wrong decision about end-user devices," said Beck Besecker, CEO and co-founder of Marxent. "VisualCommerce™ solves that problem, allowing retailers and brands to create VR experiences that manage, render and relate thousands of SKUs painlessly. We want brands to know that this can be done now – today. We have solved the problem for them."

Using local cache servers, shared geometry and a proprietary featherlight 3D file format, VisualCommerce™ retail shoppers configure and experience custom 360-degree scenes rendered beautifully in real-time. The platform also supports third-party data feeds and APIs to provide up-to-date product pricing and user reviews.

"From building products to yachts and medical equipment to mattresses, helping customers to visualize high-consideration products in physical showrooms is costly, complex and limiting," Besecker continued. "VisualCommerce™ helps shoppers to build and create custom scenes with access to endless products, textures and surfaces - allowing them to configure and visualize an entire project in 3D before they buy. It's like Minecraft for shopping."

The award-winning VisualCommerce™ platform enables retailers and manufacturers to offer a white label AR/VR experience that uses existing brand assets and decreases the cost, complexity and physical limitations of tangible samples and showrooms. VisualCommerce™ has become the go-to sales and marketing tool for innovative retailers and manufacturers that see the value in enabling a more streamlined and supportive customer journey.
