MCOR TECHNOLOGIES TO UNVEIL NEW BREAKTHROUGHS IN SDL PAPER-BASED 3D PRINTING AT TCT SHOW + PERSONALIZE 2014

Mcor customer, Ian Best of Micro CADD Services, to present high-profile city project with 5.4M X 2.2M 3D printed model of Bahrain

Mcor Technologies Ltd, manufacturer of the only line of desktop paper 3D printers, announced today that it will introduce new breakthroughs in it's Selective Deposition Lamination (SDL), paper-based 3D printing technology at this year's TCT Show + Personalize event. Attendees will learn how Mcor's full-colour 3D printers can dramatically cut costs, shorten design cycles, improve designs, create virtually unlimited business possibilities and enable everyone access to professional-class 3D printing.
In addition, Mcor customer, Ian Best, managing director of Micro CADD Services (MCS)will present a high-profile city project he worked on, including one of the world's largest models of an entire country, Bahrain, created with an Mcor 3D printer. The 1:10,000-scale model, 5.4 meters long by 2.2 meters wide, has captivated the attention of the country's national and local leaders, who are able to use the map for master planning. MCS created roads for the map by 3D printing strips of gray paper, which Best glued onto the terrain, creating a slightly elevated roadway akin to real landscapes, another benefit of working with paper as a medium.
The 19th annual TCT Show + Personalize is the UK's definitive and leading additive manufacturing, 3D printing and product development technology show for every level of interest. TCT Show + Personalize 2014 takes place 30 September – 2 October at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. Mcor will exhibit on stand #D18.
Mcor 3D printers create physical 3D models from standard A4 and letter-size sheets of paper, whether new or previously used. When sheets of paper are cut and bonded together, the resulting model is tough and durable. Mcor 3D printed models can be tapped, threaded, hinged and made flexible and water resistant with Mcor FLEX. They can even be disposed of in the recycling bin for cradle-to-grave sustainability.
3D printing enables quick and cost-effective production of early prototypes, mould tools, architectural studies, three-dimensional maps, medical models and more. Mcor's part cost is five percent of other technologies' costs, and therefore, the total cost of ownership over five years can save hundreds of thousands of dollars. This low cost enables wider accessibility of the technology and therefore, greater innovation.
