Smart Connected Devices Continued To Grow in Western Europe in 2014Q3, Says IDC

The smart connected device (SCD) market posted another quarter of growth in Western Europe, driven mainly by increased demand for personal computers. According to figures published by International Data Corporation (IDC), PC, tablet, and smartphone shipments totaled 60.1 million units, with volume 8.6% higher compared with the same quarter a year ago.


Western European Hardcopy Shipments Remain Stable, But Revenues Feel the Pressure, says IDC

Western European printer and multifunction (MFP) markets continued to show strong growth as 3Q14 showed increases of 2.0% when compared to the same period a year ago, according to data released by International Data Corporation (IDC). This gave a 3Q14 market figure of 5.87 million units and represents actual unit growth of over 118,000 units. But there are strong pressures on prices and the value of hardware shipping continued to contract.

State aid: Commission approves exemptions from Danish tax on advertising to households

The European Commission has found a series of reductions and exemptions from a Danish tax on non-nominative advertising material delivered to households, to be in line with EU state aid rules. The Commission found that while some of these measures contain state aid, it is compatible with EU rules as it furthers EU environmental and cultural goals without unduly distorting competition in the Single Market.
