Two in one - DZA certifies offset and digital printing

The Druckerei zu Altenburg GmbH (DZA) is one of the oldest existing printing houses in Germany with a "period of service" of over 425 years. Founded in 1594 as "Fürstlich Sächsischer Officin" by Duke Friedrich Wilhelm zu Sachsen at Hartenfels Castle in Torgau, the company has been located in Altenburg since 1604. Thanks to good connections to Friedrich A. Brockhaus in Leipzig, the company was also one of the producers of the "Brockhaus". Older people will remember this extensive reference work before Wikipedia, Google and Co. killed these print products. Over the decades and centuries, the company remained at the pulse of technical developments, such as the changeover from lead type to DTP and the replacement of letterpress by offset printing in the last century. DZA is internationally renowned for the production of high-quality books and brochures - with a demanding clientele that includes many art publishers. And this in turn sometimes places special demands on all departments of the fully integrated company. Often the client is told: "Hm, difficult", followed by: "Let us think for a moment ..." and finally: "Solved!

Quality is one of the biggest differentiators in the packaging industry. Other factors matter too of course – cost efficiency, sustainability, lead times – but ultimately if packaging fails the quality test, it can jeopardize a whole run, and a customer relationship with it. When the COVID-19 lockdown struck mid-way through a major reassembly of a company’s printing presses, BOBST went the extra mile to resolve the problem.
Imagine the situation. You are a major packaging converter and business is on the up. You are halfway through an upgrade to your gravure printing press to increase capacity. The machine will be out of action for a period while it is reassembled and upgraded, but no problem – they’ll soon be back up and running and even better than ever. Just in time to fulfil a large new order from one of your biggest clients.

BOBST helps converters enter new markets with shrink sleeve labels production

As one of the fastest growing segments in the label market, shrink sleeves represent the third most important label format after pressure-sensitive and wet-glue labels. According to Smithers, the global market share of all types of sleeve labels will grow annually by 6.9% in the period 2019–24, making it the highest growth type among all label formats.
