Roland DG enters the digital printing wallpaper market and expands its business

Announcement of the acquisition of shares from UAB Dimense Print (Lithuania)
Roland DG Corporation (Headquarters: Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan; President, Representative Director: Kohei Tanabe), a global manufacturer and distributor of wide-format inkjet printers for sign making and 3D tools for manufacturing, today announced the acquisition of shares in UAB Dimense print, a subsidiary of UAB VEIKA, a manufacturer and seller of wallpaper products headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Background and objective of the share acquisition
Roland DG aims to lead the way in the future through "Digital and Co-creation" with the medium-term business plan (FY2021-23). The focus is on the transformation to a lean and nimble organisation and the transformation of the business portfolio. This includes exploring growth investments through M&A to create new core businesses. Roland DG has decided to acquire 50.1% of the shares of UAB Dimense Print, a chemical technology subsidiary of UAB VEIKA, which offers a unique digital printing embossing solution for the wallpaper industry. The digitisation of wallpaper printing has not yet fully penetrated the market, but the growing demand for personalisation and the upcoming market expansion provide Roland DG with the perfect opportunity to make its official market entry. Furthermore, this embossing technology has great potential as it can bring texture and dimension to various printing applications such as plaster moulds. Roland DG aims to strengthen its presence in the wallpaper market through the continued development, distribution and support of DIMENSE™ and Ecodeco™, both proprietary technologies of UAB DIMENSE print. Roland DG leverages UAB VEIKA's outstanding technical capabilities and combines them with Roland DG's manufacturing expertise and global distribution network.
Thus, Roland DG will drive the development and distribution of unique and high-quality new digital printing solutions, with the aim of further expanding the market by leveraging these strengths.
About UAB VEIKA and UAB Dimense print
VEIKA is a family-owned company founded in 1991 by Jakov Etin in Vilnius, Lithuania, known as a producer of various materials for the wallpaper industry. VEIKA has earned a reputation as a reliable and trustworthy partner supplier with a lot of know-how and experience in wallpaper production. Following the second generation - Dr Aleksey Etin joined the company in 2007 - and recognising the pivotal role that continuous research and development plays in its enduring success, VEIKA has established an impressive array of laboratories dedicated to innovation in inks, polymers and coatings.
Since 2012, the focus has shifted to digital printing and production started with solvent-based inkjet printers and PVC wallpapers. With the environment in mind, the company is now PVC-free and invented and patented Ecodeco™, a plasticiser-free base for traditional hot stamping wallpaper production. Digital solutions also include the state-of-the-art DIMENSE™ wide-format inkjet printer, which has gained high recognition for its unique textured print capability, environmentally friendly inks and substrates, and enabling original, expressive designs in wallpaper printing. By acquiring shares in UAB Dimense print, Roland DG gains access to the technological capabilities of the company and its parent company UAB VEIKA in the ink and wallpaper sector.
Message from the President
Kohei Tanabe, President and Representative Director of Roland DG Corporation, said: "I still remember the day I first saw DIMENSE's wallpaper solution in 2019. With today's message, we are combining our mission of "Providing new opportunities to society through digital" and our goal of "Enabling creativity and excitement worldwide" with DIMENSE's unique and innovative digital embossing printing solution. During the negotiations, I felt the desire to work with them and create enthusiasm worldwide. Roland DG has grown steadily through digitalisation and the creation of a new market. Now I am pleased that we are moving forward together to grow the embossing market, including wallpapers, through the acquisition of shares in UAB Dimense print."
