The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for France was unchanged in December, remaining at 110.0 (2010 = 100), following a 0.1 percent decline in November, and a 0.1 percent increase in October.
At the same time, The Conference Board Coincident Economic Index® (CEI) for France, a measure of current economic activity, increased 0.1 percent in December to 100.1 (2010 = 100), following no change in November, and a 0.1 percent increase in October.
Despite no change in December, the six-month growth rate of the LEI for France has improved in recent months, and the strengths among its components have become more widespread in the second half of 2014. Meanwhile, the CEI has been flat for more than a year. Taken together, the composite indexes suggest that economic activity will continue to expand in the near term, but at a moderate pace.
