Sustainable and universally applicable - Zeller+Gmelin launches new bio-hydraulic oil

For use in biologically sensitive environments, legislation stipulates bio-hydraulic oils. However, these should be just as efficient as mineral oil-based products. With Divinol SynthoHyd Eco46, lubricant manufacturer Zeller+Gmelin now presents a fully synthetic, biodegradable multigrade hydraulic oil whose properties allow lubricant requirements to be rationalised significantly.

"Our development department is permanently working on continuously increasing the proportion of sustainable, resource-saving lubricants, especially for outdoor use," says Andreas Krapf, Product Manager for Automotive and Special Automotive Products at Zeller+Gmelin. Thus, the development of Divinol SynthoHyd Eco46 now serves as the latest working proof in the product portfolio of the traditional company. As an environmentally friendly biohydraulic oil, Divinol SynthoHyd Eco46 is suitable for year-round use in, for example, construction, agricultural and forestry machinery and can even be used in snow groomers due to its temperature resistance. "Whether on land or in water - our new bio-hydraulic oil is designed for high temperature fluctuations and at the same time protects the environment through the lowest possible oil input," Andreas Krapf continues. Divinol SynthoHyd Eco46 can also be used in the field of stationary hydraulics and industrial plants - for example, in injection moulding machines, the new product offers clear advantages for the user in terms of more energy-efficient, sustainable management (reduction of friction - energy savings) as well as long-term stability of the product (fewer oil change intervals - longer service life).
The new biohydraulic oil has been awarded the EU Ecolabel (DE/027/268), the Austrian Ecolabel and the Swedish Ecolabel Swedish Standard SS 155434. The use of a high-quality zinc/ash-free additive combination also ensures excellent corrosion and wear protection as well as improved ageing behaviour. Due to the synthetic base oil characteristics, no gumming or deposits due to thermally induced oil ageing occur even at higher operating temperatures. The hydraulic oil is formulated on the basis of polyalphaolefins (PAO) and is fully biodegradable according to OECD 301 B.
Andreas Krapf concludes: "Divinol SynthoHyd Eco46 has excellent low- and high-temperature behaviour and is ideal for extended oil change intervals. Our users therefore not only protect the environment and important resources, but in return they also get the performance they need in daily use."
Other properties of Divinol SynthoHyd Eco46:
- ISO 46 viscosity, easily covers the ISO viscosity class above and below (32 - 68)
- High performance reserves compared to conventional hydraulic oils
- No attack on hose materials and seals
- Extended service life
- Excellent viscosity temperature behaviour
- distinct cold flow behaviour
- Very good ageing stability
- Enables grade rationalisation and simplifies stock-keeping
- Miscible with mineral oil-based hydraulic oils as well as biodegradable, ester-based hydraulic oils
