FOTOBODEN takes stock of the EuroShop 2020

Largest exhibitor sums up EuroShop 2020: FOTOBODEN™ satisfied with visitor response

FOTOBODEN™ was as diverse as its areas of application at the EuroShop 2020 - The World's No. 1 Retail Trade Fair, which took place in February at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre. Once again, FOTOBODEN™ was the largest exhibitor at the fair with 2,000 square metres of exhibition space on its own and various partner stands. According to the FOTOBODEN™ motto "Artists at work", the Kaarst-based company demonstrated its countless design possibilities at the world's largest retail trade fair, of course always perfectly adapted to the scenery of the respective exhibition stand: The designs changed from futuristic black and white optics to colourful floor coverings with "secret message". The start was already made at the entrances to the fair. Here, all visitors were already greeted by the huge key visuals of the fair, of course printed by and on FOTOBODEN™. And with the 94,000 visitors who passed the key visuals at least twice during the five days of the fair, the individually printable vinyl flooring once again proved its outstanding object properties.

FOTOBODEN™ once again showed itself to be the "all-purpose weapon" for use in retail, in the contract flooring sector, at trade fairs and at events. And the company's own as well as third-party flooring impressively demonstrated how easy it is to attract more visitors to the trade fair stand or point of sale and to make a lasting impression on them with creative and ever new designs. Despite the rampant coronavirus, FOTOBODEN™ generated over 400 new contacts and met many existing customers. "Under the circumstances, we are very satisfied with the trade fair and the discussions we had," explains Timo Michalik, CEO of visuals united ag and inventor of FOTOBODEN™. "Once again it has become clear that this trade fair is hard to beat in terms of internationality and visitor quality in this concentration". And Silke Hüsgen, Director Sales & Marketing, adds: "In this respect, we can be glad that our trade fair preparations of the last few months and the associated costs have been translated into action and that the trade fair was not cancelled at short notice. And with all our space, the artist at our stand, winning the IFES Award, the nomination of the fair's trend scouts, we have again left a nice footprint in the industry, which hopefully will pay off for new business". This year there was - besides the floor covering - an additional eye-catcher at the FOTOBODEN™ stand: The Berlin aerial artist Meike Silja showed breathtaking performances on the trapeze as well as vertical cloth. What unites FOTOBODEN™ and the artist: The work of both lives from the art of design.

Together with its long-standing partner Pioneer Trading, which showed the fastest shop window in the world, FOTOBODEN™ proved how to sustainably increase frequency through a variety of applications - regardless of location or occasion: It works in a full exhibition hall just as well as in retail or at events. Pioneer Trading CEO Marco Israel was also satisfied with the course of the fair: "Despite the very reduced number of visitors due to the corona virus, the quality of the visitors was very high. Our joint and very innovative stand concept was very well received by visitors, the transition from individual floor design to the equally individual magnetic wall that can be designed to suit individual needs, right through to the hand-made concrete wallpaper, was very popular". Together with the Karlsruhe-based company, FOTOBODEN™ presented creative application examples for successful brand staging at EuroShop. In the meantime, the material has been further developed for long-term use and, for the first time at EuroShop, is now also available in object quality with a guarantee of up to 15 years.
Besides the own stands as well as those for the "Schule für Farbe und Gestaltung Stuttgart" or "Style'n Store", especially the 800 sqm "Expo+Event Stage" with the FAMAB Kommunikationsverband e.V. as well as the "Store Design Stage" became special eye-catchers of the fair thanks to FOTOBODEN™. Also a highlight: The exhibition stand of the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf. Under the name "Premium City", it showed a futuristic-looking city from the year 2050 in which retail, public space and mobility merge. The FOTOBODEN™ underlined the effect and showed various texts, the optics: completely in black and white. "Our stand was again one of the finalists for the best stands at Euroshop 2020 and generated a very good overall response," said Prof. Dr. phil. Rainer Zimmermann from the university. "Many international guests and representatives of foreign universities visited us, as well as well-known brands such as Tesla, Freitag or Victor & Rolf, who would like to continue certain projects with the students. The FOTOBODEN™ formed the framework for the installations, exhibits and the lecture programme, we received very good feedback on the texts on the floor covering. Remarkable was the great interest from South America. Especially in Peru and Chile the retail sector seems to be booming".
And the winner is...

FOTOBODEN™ received one of the coveted IDIA Awards this year and took third place with its individually printable vinyl floor. The prize - awarded by "IFES - The global collaboration network" annually honours special products in retail. During EuroShop 2020 the prize was awarded to Timo Michalik, CEO of visuals united ag and the inventor of FOTOBODEN™.

This year, FOTOBODEN™ was also nominated for the "7th EuroShop Trendscouting by AIT" in the Trend category: This innovation prize is intended to underline the importance of architectural quality in the field of trade fair and shop construction. Architects evaluate the entries, which were exhibited in the special exhibition in the South Foyer. Unfortunately, this year it was not enough to win.

After the fair is before the fair: Since 2014, FOTOBODEN™ has been offering all customers a recycling service for individually manufactured floor coverings. The over 2000 sqm of EuroShop were also collected after the end of the fair and taken to the plant of the PVC flooring recycling consortium. Thus FOTOBODEN™ becomes FOTOBODEN™ again and a material cycle is created which is unique in the trade fair world with the otherwise rather short-term planned operating times of the used trade fair materials.
