In the spring Metsä Board – part of Metsä Group – announced that its modular takeaway packaging, targeted at restaurants’ takeaway services, was one of the seven winning concept ideas in the Helsinki Wholesale market area’s innovation competition. The winners were able to enter a pilot phase which has now come to the end. The takeaway packaging, developed by the project group led by Metsä Board, is easily recyclable and made of Metsä Board’s fresh fibre paperboard. In this initial pilot both consumers and restauranteurs found this solution easy-to-use and functional as well as easy to recycle.

The award-winning Swedish startup Graphmatech succeeded in launching a new world record material in just 22 months and less than 1 million euros since the company was founded. On average, this process takes seven years and tens of millions of euros. Graphmatech recently presented the new product for the first time at the NanoForum in Malmö, where the company received the Nanotechnology Company of the Year award in the Nordic region last year.
