Meredith Corporation (NYSE:MDP) announced today that Katherine C. Meredith passed away yesterday at the age of 82. Mrs. Meredith was the wife of former Meredith Corporation Chairman E.T. Meredith III, and the mother of D. Mell Meredith Frazier, current Vice Chairman of the Meredith Corporation Board of Directors. Mrs. Meredith also served as President of the Edwin T. Meredith Foundation.
"Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Meredith family during this very difficult time," said Meredith Chairman and CEO Stephen M. Lacy. "Katie was a devoted wife and mother, and a patron of many civic and charitable activities here in Des Moines. She will be deeply missed."
Mrs. Meredith was active in the Des Moines community, serving on boards and in leadership positions with many organizations, particularly the Science Center of Iowa, as well as Drake University; the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden; Blank Park Zoo; and the Junior League of Des Moines.
Mrs. Meredith is survived by a daughter, D. Mell Meredith Frazier; a son, E.T. (Tom) Meredith IV; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
