Labelmaster® Offers New Edition of Government 49 CFR for Safe Handling of Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste

Revised in October 2013, the hazardous materials regulations in parts 100-177 detail requirements for markings, labels, placards, shipping papers, training and emergency response.

Parts 178-199 spell out performance-oriented packaging standards, transportation of hazardous liquids by pipelines, and drug and alcohol testing. Domestic transportation regulations for highway, rail, air and water also are included.

Government 49 CFR regulatory changes include:

-- Updates to the Hazardous Materials Table (i.e. addition of 3500 series tc) (172.101)

-- Classification of aerosols, changes to rules (SP 362)

-- Extensions of:

-- ORM-D mark to 2020 (172.315/316)

-- Old LQ mark to 2015 (172.315)

-- Delay of new UN ID # marking size requirements to 2017 (172.301)

-- Revisions to the "incorporated by reference" sections (new ANSI

standards etc) (various as applicable)

-- Additions to the Special Provisions (SP) section dealing with Lithium

batteries (SP 188, 189, 190)

-- Additions to the SP list dealing with capacitors (SP 361), Mercury (SP

365)

-- Changes to the violation fine schedules (maximum and minimum civil

penalties) (Section 107)

The Government 49 CFR Parts 100-177 and Parts 178-199 two-volume set comes in standard and spiral bound formats. Each book in the set measures at 6" x 9" and is packed two books per package. Also, an automatic 49 CFR subscription service is available.
