Beta Systems Purchases HORIZONT Software GmbH

Beta Systems Software AG signed a purchase agreement with the shareholders of Munich-based HORIZONT Software GmbH in late December. HORIZONT has been developing and marketing software for the operation of large data centers for 20 years. Their products complement the Beta Systems Data Center Intelligence (DCI) portfolio. The acquisition strengthens the position of the two companies in this market segment, both economically and in terms of their technological offering. The ability to draw on the sales channels of both companies will further help to broaden their market reach. Moreover, the combined technological know-how opens up opportunities for new product developments.

"HORIZONT's loyal customer base and unique product features represent a strong addition to the Beta Systems portfolio," says Arne Baßler, Director Strategy & Communication at Beta Systems, commenting on the acquisition. "At the same time, the organizational capabilities, infrastructure and technologies of Beta Systems generate key growth opportunities for HORIZONT," he concludes.

Beta Systems acquired all shares of the previous HORIZONT shareholders. The acquisition became retroactively effective as of 1 October 2014. HORIZONT is joining the Beta Systems Group as an independently run company, and as such it will continue to engage in a direct dialog with its customers. Managing Directors Josef Dirnberger and Uwe Hahm continue their long-term commitment towards the company: "The Beta Systems acquisition affords HORIZONT with excellent sales perspectives and comprehensive technological resources for future developments. Our customers stand to benefit from synergies thanks to gaining access to our combined product worlds."

Beta Systems expects the acquisition to result in an increased group turnover and an improved EBIT in the 2014/15 business year. Both parties agreed to keep the details of the purchasing contract confidential.
