THE WORLD'S FIRST VEHICLE COCKPIT WITH P-OLED FROM LG ELECTRONICS CELEBRATES PREMIERE IN THE NEW CADILLAC ESCALADE

The futuristic display system promises a wide viewing angle, unsurpassed adaptability and an improved HMI (Human-Machine-Interface)

Earlier this week, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade equipped with LG's P-OLED Digital Cockpit Solution (DCS) was unveiled. The new model is the first production vehicle to feature a curved OLED screen.
The P-OLED display is at the heart of the cult SUV's completely revised vehicle design. The 38-inch display is made up of three separate P-OLED panels, the largest of which measures 16.9 inches (42.9 centimeters). The three curved displays can be used on the one hand as an Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) for displaying vehicle-related information and on the other hand as an Integrated Central Stack (ICS), an infotainment display for audio, video and navigation content.
Other innovative systems in the Escalade include functions such as Augmented Reality-supported navigation or night vision - using software from LG. All innovations meet both the Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) and the international ISO standard for functional safety of road vehicles.
According to the research company IHS Markit, the global market for automotive displays is expected to grow from 7.8 billion US dollars in 2019 to 10.5 billion US dollars in 2023. With its wide viewing angle, unique curvature and optimized display characteristics, the P-OLED display provides a much more intuitive driving experience. The particularly flexible and unsurpassed thin OLED technology is also attractive for manufacturers of high-priced vehicles, as it enables them to offer their customers, especially early adopters, the latest innovations.
"It is an honour for us to present our display solution together with a traditional company like Cadillac. This launch confirms that our technology is among the best the automotive industry has to offer today," said Kim Jin-yong, President of LG Vehicle Component Solutions Company. "We can use the experience LG has gained over many years to become the world leader in OLED TVs to improve the user experience in vehicles.
